The Amazon network infrastructure shutdown has left smart home fans unable to use simple household goods.
Amazon Web Services is a major part of the particular profitability and the source of the most famous websites and services over the Internet.
Many of these programs were interrupted by a widespread US shutdown late Wednesday. Unexpectedly, robotic vacuum cleaners and smart doorbells stopped functioning in people’s homes.
Many people complained that they could not vacuum their houses anymore and their smart doorbells stopped working, all in all their quality of life was disrupted due to the widespread blackout. Many people took to social media to complain about the blackout and were severely disappointed by the future of technology in the 21st century.
Amazon’s outage affected the robot vacuum cleaner, the iRobot themselves acknowledged this fact the moment the complaints started to come after the Amazon blackout, but they also reassured the users of their product that they are carefully monitoring the situation and will soon be back up online and ready to go.
Amazon’s web services suddenly having an outage disrupted many services aside from iRobot’s vacuum cleaner, also the robotic vacuum cleaner can be used even when there is no internet connectivity, by simply a press of a single button. The internet connectivity is preferable and needed because the connectivity with the internet helps the vacuum cleaner stay within a room and mostly it is used to make schedules for cleaning.
Aside from the robotic vacuum cleaners being affected by Amazon’s web services having a blackout, the other product that was affected was the smart doorbells by Ring which Amazon also owns. Ring also accepted and was aware that the doorbells had stopped working due to the blackout of Amazon’s web services. They apologized for it and said that they really appreciate that their users are understanding of them in this situation.
Even a software such as Adobe was affected by it as well as the Amazon owned Washington Post newspaper. Amazon web services have since stated that the issues have been completely resolved and their services are back to normal.
