Facebook is also going to block all the events at the State Capitol building and at the US Capitol building.
Facebook will be making sure not a single event takes place near the close places of the White House. It will also block all the events around the State Capitol building and at the US Capitol building throughout the day of inauguration. This was announced by Facebook on Friday. All of this is being done by Facebook in order to safeguard the lives of people, especially knowing what happened on January 6th, no one wants to relive the same nightmare again. Therefore, all the events that might have the potential to pose a threat during the inauguration day will not happen.
To make sure the same event does not take place that took place on 6th January, Facebook will be blocking all the pages from outside the country that might create events such as the January 6th one. Facebook is taking active measure against this because people were saying Facebook allowed such events to take place on 6th January, while Facebook did not actually do it or promoted it in anyway. The COO of the company, Sheryl Sandberg said that the riots that happened did not only happen because of their platform, rather it happened through various other platforms as Facebook has a strict policy against hate and violence. Now Facebook, is working closely to monitor all the content that might pose a threat and be dangerous during the inauguration day.
Accounts will be blocked swiftly if any policies are violated, nothing will go unchecked because on January 6th, 6 people lost their lives, and no one wants to see that happening again. Aside from Facebook, Airbnb is also blocking and cancelling all the reservations till the inauguration day. It is a good step to make sure nothing dangerous happens again.
